An Imagined Nation

Hello everyone. It's that time again. Back with another poem. And to be honest, this one was a battle. It took a few different sittings, and caused some real frustration at times, but in the end, I think it turned out for the better. Although, with me being my own harshest critic, I'm not sure if I'm completely satisfied with it. So it may end up being revisited. But as far as the content of the poem, it was inspired by an amazing woman named Ongelle. This is isn't the first poem I've written about her, but it is the latest, lol. See, I've always believed that if a person dominates your thoughts, then that person means more to you than you may be willing to admit. Luckily, I have no such compunctions. But having said that, I always try to express myself in a more poetic fashion. So this poem, which is called, "An Imagined Nation," is about her. The person who dominates my thoughts. And the title is a bit of a play on words. The poem is basically saying that if my imagination was an actual place, or an imagined nation, than it would be her that rules the land, and it would be her that sits upon the throne.  And the poem goes on to describe the sometimes, otherworldly state of my imagination, as well revealing some of the things I've imagined doing to my imagined queen. And also, as I said, this isn't the first poem I've written about her. So I even threw in a reference to my first poem about her. After you're done reading this one, you can click the reference and read the other. But enough of my rambling, lol. Here it is, in all its' glory. Hopefully, she likes it. And if I'm lucky, it won't be just her, but you all as well, that have enjoyed reading this poem. Take care everyone. Thanks for reading. It means far more than you will ever know.

"An Imagined Nation"
2013

Darling, imagine if you will
A vast display of land
And the sun is touching every place
A man could surely stand
Then imagine that this place
Was locked deep inside a mind
That was like the rabbit hole of lore
With wonders for you to find
Would you drink the offered tea
To help swallow chosen pills
Or would you take the hookah for a whirl
To see if you could feel the thrills
Would you see how far the path
Laid before you has to go
Or shall I stop talking backwards
And tell you all you need to know
See, I've wanted you for years
And thought about you through the days
Imagined every way to bend you
And leave you feeling just amazed
But it seems as if the weeks
Have dwindled down to hours
Yet we've still gained eternity
Inside this bed of ours
'Cause in my imagined nation
You've been ruling for some time
And your grace has struck me silent
Like some phantom pantomime
And if there's a wall between us
I best prepare to climb
'Cause all I needed was a reason
To do away with rhyme
For words are pleasing to the ear
But they seldom leave a mark
Unless they're laced with threats
That bite far worse than they bark
But there's no violence here
Leaving plenty room for sex
Mixed with a touch of profanity
And our hands around each other's necks
As you look me in the eyes
And beg me not to stop
I know that inside the hourglass
A million grains have dropped
While I'm rocking back and forth
And moving steady like the tide
Just to delight the warmest shore
That I have ever been inside
'Cause see, I've wanted you for years
And thought about you through the days
Imagined every way to bend you
And leave you feeling just amazed
But it seems as if the weeks
Have dwindled down to hours
Yet we've still gained eternity
Inside this bed of ours
'Cause in my imagined nation
You've been ruling for some time
And your grace has struck me silent
Like some phantom pantomime
And if there's a wall between us
I best prepare to climb
'Cause all I needed was a reason
To do away with rhyme
And now I've rolled you on your side
So I can get a better view
Of each expression that you wear
As you enjoy each thing I do
And we're capsized in the sheets
Like our sea has donned a veil
Hoping we could resurrect a love
As I slowly drive this final nail
But we're both powerless to fight
This every urge we have
While leaving marks upon our skin
And sharing moans and then a laugh
Wondering how we ever went so long
Without reaching current heights
As we tolerated solitude
For what seemed like endless nights
But still I've wanted you for years
And thought about you through the days
Imagined every way to bend you
And leave you feeling just amazed
But it seems as if the weeks
Have dwindled down to hours
Yet we've still gained eternity
Inside this bed of ours
'Cause in my imagined nation
You've been ruling for some time
And your grace has struck me silent
Like some phantom pantomime
And if there's a wall between us
I best prepare to climb
'Cause all I needed was a reason
To do away with rhyme
Girl, if my imagination was a place
Folks could visit now and then
They would surely see your face
On the monuments within
And every portrait that was framed
Would have value not a price
And they would surely bare your name
In a fashion that's precise
But I wonder if you'd call for God
With your hair inside my hand
Or if I grabbed the flesh upon your hips
As hard as you could stand
Before thrusting into you
With love and hate combined
And I wonder if the name upon your breath
Would sound a lot like mine
'Cause I've waited here for years
And thought about you through the days
Imagined every way to bend you
And leave you feeling just amazed
But it seems as if the weeks
Have dwindled down to hours
Yet we've still gained eternity
Inside this bed of ours
'Cause in my imagined nation
You've been ruling for some time
And your grace has struck me silent
Like some phantom pantomime
And if there's a wall between us
I best prepare to climb
'Cause all I needed was a reason
To do away with rhyme...

  1. I love this. Babe this is amazing as usual. I would love to visit this world. What is a queen without her King? I will be thinking baout his all day long... Into the evening. I will carry this though to bed with me tonight, where I can finally release it. ;) ~Ongelle~

  2. Well I'm delighted that you love it, babe. I was worried that it didn't come out as well as the previous ones I had written for you. But once i read your comment just now, it was like a weight was lifted off of me. To say that i am relieved would be an understatement, lol. And knowing you want to visit this world surely puts a smile on my face. I hope you will enjoy everything you find there.

  4. Well you'd be more than welcome to stay. Especially if you're a benevolent queen, lol. But i must admit, my mind keeps drifting thoughts of your royal release...
