"Fall From Grace"
2011
I would've stopped a train for you
With bare hands if I could
And then I would've chalked it up
To some sort of greater good
But now I'm laying on the tracks
Waiting for the table's final turn
'Cause heroes often let you down
Is what I've slowly learned
And the times that were serene
Are now few and far between
So sadly on this day
There's just nothing left to say, but...
Oh, there were so many things
That you used to do so well
And that Heaven in your eyes
Has slowly turned to Hell
Leaving a tarnished reverence
That cannot be replaced
'Cause I still have trouble looking past
Your surprising fall from grace
Tell me how you could have everything you want
And still want nothing that you have
When there are others in this world
Who would be satisfied with half
And someone here has found a way
To ensure your skies are blue
And then they placed you on a pedestal
To ensure your better view
But now they see the times that were serene
Are few and far between
So sadly on this day
There's just nothing left to say, but...
Oh, there were so many things
That you used to do so well
And that Heaven in your eyes
Has slowly turned to Hell
Leaving a tarnished reverence
That cannot be replaced
'Cause I still have trouble looking past
Your surprising fall from grace
Could you tell if it's a need for more
Or is it just ungratefulness
Should I smile as I see your life
Become a correctly labeled mess
Or maybe I should be the bigger soul
And leave you as you are
'Cause your distance from reality
Has grown so very far
Turning your back on the only things
That ever did you right
Thinking that there's some better thrill
Awaiting you tonight
But that is just the mental state
Of a slowly, growing child
Who will never have the strength of mind
To enjoy their slice of Heaven for awhile
Because the times that were serene
Are now few and far between
So it's sadly on this day
That there's just nothing left to say, but...
Oh, there were so many things
That you used to do so well
And that Heaven in your eyes
Has slowly turned to Hell
Leaving a tarnished reverence
That cannot be replaced
'Cause I still have trouble looking past
Your surprising fall from grace
Whether it was things you said behind my back
Or the things you never said to face
Knowing you has left the kind of stain
Only our Creator could erase
So my respect has been revoked
'Cause you didn't deserve it in the first
For you may not have never drawn my blood
Your crimes are far considered worse
And because the times that were serene
Are now so few and far between
It's sadly on this day
That there's just nothing left to say, but...
Oh, there were so many things
That you used to do so well
And that Heaven in your eyes
Has slowly turned to Hell
Leaving a tarnished reverence
That cannot be replaced
'Cause I still have trouble looking past
Your surprising fall from grace
