Is your life all plotted out
Do bullet points fill your days
Is there a list of used excuses
That could justify your ways
'Cause I often watch and wonder
If you ever had remorse
Or do you play it all by ear
Then let nature take its' course
As you try to reinvent the wheel
And ignore the things you feel
But as that wheel begins to roll
I see you start to lose control
So you can try to hold the water
Or even catch a flame
Oh, you can try your everything
The result will be the same
Scribble outside the margin
Maybe color outside the lines
And instead of saying sorry
You could just change with the times
But that doesn't seem to suit you
Or even fit you very well
So your life maybe the story that
Your fellow fools will tell
As you try to reinvent the wheel
And ignore the things you feel
But as that wheel begins to roll
I see you start to lose control
So you can try to hold the water
Or even catch a flame

Now while some forget the past
They seem doomed to just repeat
The future will be undermined
By the foolishness beneath
If you took a look at the present
And see how far it's got you
As I fight to hide my laughter
While I just sit back and watch you
