One Wish

"One Wish"
2011

If wings were our arms, how high would we fly
As clouds work their charms, inside this blue sky
I glance at your smile, it fills me with pride
To know I've come this far, and I haven't died
But if I had one wish, it would be this
That your wings would always work
During the bitter times
That you're not in mines
If clouds were our bed, how well would we sleep
Seeing sunshine instead, of the darkness I keep
Locked in my heart, before you arrived
And chased it away, and made me feel alive
But if I had one wish, it would be this
That your wings would always work
During the bitter times
That you're not in mines
Yes, if I had one wish, it would be this
That your wings would always work
During the bitter times,
So you'd be free from your hurt
'Cause hurt I know well, it's shown it's face
To me in my hell, as I burned in my space
But you killed the flames, with the light in your eyes
Proving it's not the result, but the fight in my tries
So as I write these words, you dance in my mind
The image preserved, one flash at a time
So I'll greet today, with strengthened resolve
Since it was my pain, that your love dissolved
And that's why...
If I had one wish, it would be this
That your wings would always work
During the bitter times
That you're not in mines
Yes, if I had one wish, it would be this
That your wings would always work
During the bitter times,
So you'd be free from your hurt
Now I'm free from myself, free just to fly
And I'll tell the world, so they'll know why
It's because of you, and the things that you do
So when I'm laid to rest, and my life is through
Just know that I gave you my all
And I'll pray that you'll never fall
So baby, keep flying high
It's only for now, since there's never goodbye
'Cause if I had one wish, it would be this
That your wings would always work
During the bitter times
That you're not in mines
Yes, if I had one wish, it would be this
That your wings would always work
During the bitter times,
So you'd be free from your hurt...
