Tailor Made For Me

"Tailor Made For Me"
2012

Let your perception of the facts
Be the sum of what I am
But darling, never be surprised
When I fail to give a damn
About any single thing
That will ever point to you
For I've grown tired of bleeding out
Thanks to your sharpened point of view
And since the blame is thrown around
When the mood will strike you best
These are the times I look down
To see the bullseye's on my chest
So as you lunge to pierce again
I hope you'll choose to peer within
And lay your eyes upon the things
You seem intent on wearing thin
For how am I to heal
When the wound is always fresh
And you mistake my smile for the fangs
That will penetrate your flesh
If this is a game, my gorgeous dealer
You must cut the deck for me
Then reshuffle all the cards
As you allow the world to see
That you'll reach deep inside your sleeve
And pull a spade for me
'Cause it seems the wool I'm hiding in
Was tailor made for me
And since the blame is thrown around
When the mood will strike you best
These are the times I look down
To see the bullseye's on my chest
So as you lunge to pierce again
I hope you'll choose to peer within
And lay your eyes upon the things
You seem intent on wearing thin
For how am I to heal
When the wound is always fresh
And you mistake my smile for the fangs
That will penetrate your flesh
Darling, it seems your life is on a path
That you're quick to show the world
But when it comes to what you've heard
You often to fail to say a word
Before you choose the fabled web
To cast a veil across your doubts
And to start accusing me of things
You'd prefer to do without
And I swear the perception often is
That I'm inclined to the play the game
Of hiding where intention often lives
So dirt is placed atop my name
But I've had a hard enough time
Keeping clean when I'm alone
So I'll have to step away from you
When more than stones are being thrown
And since the blame is thrown around
When the mood will strike you best
These are the times I look down
To see the bullseye's on my chest
So as you lunge to pierce again
I hope you'll choose to peer within
And lay your eyes upon the things
You seem intent on wearing thin
For how am I to heal
When the wound is always fresh
And you mistake my smile for the fangs
That will penetrate your flesh
And let your perception of the facts
Be the sum of what I am
But darling, never be surprised
When I fail to give a damn
About any single thing
That will ever make you smile
Since you believe I hope to give you inches
While stealing the most sacred of your miles
And while your past has taught you this
My eyes will paint you as a fool
Who threw away a shade of bliss
'Cause they failed to learn in school
That not every sheep will need a shepherd
Nor will a wolf just bare its' teeth
Unless it has the vantage point
And decides it's an easy meal that lies beneath...
