The Perfect Find

Hello everyone. It's that time again. Back to add some commentary to my older pieces. And this one, which is titled, "The Perfect Find," is honestly pretty self-explanatory. It's written from the perspective of someone who has been searching high and low to find someone worth their time. And they are elated, because they believe the person they are with is truly the perfect find. Thus, the title, lol. But after re-reading this one, there are things I like about it. But there are also things I hate about it. I feel some revisiting of this piece may occur in the near future. But for now, I'll let it live as is, and see what you all think about it.

"The Perfect Find"
2011

If I could paint a perfect picture
I'm sure the brush would race
To cause this canvas friction
As it made an outline of your face
But since I can't paint worth my weight
I have to write these words for you
'Cause when I feel this weightless
What else is there to do
But to say those three words
That are often used too much
Since it's what you deserve my darling
You saved me with your touch
But I'll hold those three words back dear
And wait until the perfect time
Since this lifelong journey's
Resulted in the perfect find
But after digging deep for so long
I feel my bones they need a rest
Since they proved to be strong
Enough to find the heart inside my chest
And I was surprised to find it beating
'Cause it barely made a sound
But the beat did its' best to thunder
When the walls fell and hit the ground
And now I want to say those three words
That are often used too much
But it's what you deserve my darling
You saved me with your touch
But I'll hold those three words back dear
And wait until the perfect time
Since this lifelong journey's
Resulted in the perfect find
And that find was the inner peace
That escaped me in the past
Back when happiness was fleeting
And it never seemed to last
Since life would often trick me
And make me out to be naive
'Cause rejection came so frequent
That I was easy to deceive
But wrong me once you bear the blame
Do it twice it's mine to own
And after I hate what I became
I couldn't stand to be alone
But the walls I built them too well
Not a soul could scale the face
Of what was then a monument
Of lost faith along with grace
But now I want to say those three words
That are often used too much
Since it's what you deserve my darling
You saved me with your touch
But I'll hold those three words back dear
And wait until the perfect time
Since this lifelong journey's
Resulted in the perfect find
Because you seemed to come along
With a timing so divine
That I couldn't believe you'd want me
And I even tried to change your mind
But thankfully I didn't
Become the fool I tried to play
So now I'll wisely hold you
And be damned if I ever let you get away...
