Nowadays it's commonplace
To bow your head and say your grace
But there are days, when those ways
Aren't worthy of their praise
And it's then that I will ask you
If it's far too great a task to
Keep your head from tilting back
When you feel there's things you lack
Most don't walk, they wish to run
And when the day is said and done
They come to find, they move too fast
The present has become the past
When things get rough on solid ground
And sympathy cannot be found
It's in those times you're stretched too thin
That you should not look up, but rather look within
'Cause nowadays it's become a trend
To give your thanks without an end
But they'll never give him any blame
As they give up credit all the same
So it's now I have to ask you
