"The Gift That You Give"
2010
Dancing through the tops of the trees
Was the slightest of breeze
That would carry a soul
But could not make it whole
For that was the task
Of a God so divine
That He ruled the world
Since the dawn of our time
But as I look to the sky...
I ask, "are the stories a lie?"
'Cause faith is a gift
I have yet to receive
But there are some things
I'm inclined to believe
Like the way that you move
Is proof that you can
Just do what you do
And make me feel like a man
Dancing on the darkest of floors
Was a goddess in view
And the club lights would shine
'Til the sky turned to blue
But since we owned the night
I told the morning to stay
So sound asleep
That the darkness could play
But as I looked in her eyes...
I saw a hint of the prize...
Still faith is a gift
I have yet to receive
But there are some things
I'm inclined to believe
Like the way that you move
Is proof that you can
Just do what you do
And make me feel like a man
Girl there are some things
That I need to confess
Before this encounter of ours
Oh, my life was a mess
That could not be cleaned
Or be organized
Because it was myself
That I so greatly despised
Because faith was a gift
I had yet to receive
But there were some things
I was inclined to believe
Like the way that I was
Brought disaster around
But all it took was your touch
To put my feet on the ground
And this gift that you give
Could help me to live
For more than a day
And throw my burdens away
But there comes a time
When they're bound to return
Then I'll come to find
There's still lessons to learn
But until we reach that day
All that I'll ask of you
Is to please never stop
Doing that thing that you do...
