A Wave Of Unforgiveness

Don't worry, all of 2010's work doesn't revolve around beaches, lol. But this is another poem that came from an angry and bitter place. This one is basically written as if the narrator is "down-dressing" a person that has betrayed them. And the title refers to this "wave of unforgiveness" that washes over you when you learn that someone has hurt you. You tend to feel completely justified for the actions you engage in, no matter if they are wrong or right. It's a completely human thing to go through, I feel. And hopefully after you've read it, that will come across.

"A Wave Of Unforgiveness"
2010

With just a bit of research
I see your homes are made of glass
And you throw stones at the others
But shield yours from your past
But I watch those little broken shards
Morph into cunning crows
Who take apart the fresh remains
Of things we'll come to know
So as you seek to make amends
The Earth's waiting for your knees
And all your apathetic friends
Just ignore your cries and pleas
And a wave of unforgiveness
Will cleanse our minds of lies
It seems you'll never be redeemed
Inside of anybody's eyes
With just a bit of research
I see your eyes become a well
And it's these so-called windows
That have the tales to tell
And as the water levels rise
Your soul would like to feed
But tears are just the living proof
That eyes were meant to bleed
So as you seek to make amends
The Earth's waiting for your knees
And all your apathetic friends
Just ignore your cries and pleas
And a wave of unforgiveness
Will cleanse our minds of lies
It seems you'll never be redeemed
Inside of anybody's eyes
So you can sing your saddest song
And I will simply laugh aloud
And as you stumble over every word
You will only make me proud
Since failing is the only thing
You ever did with truth
And the weight of every little lie
Has put the stress upon your youth
So each wrinkle that you deserve
Grows to stab your self-esteem
And will emphasize your ugliness
As I find the beauty in your screams
So you can cry your rivers
As I help every bridge to burn
But as the ashes start to signal loss
I hope the lesson is what you've learned
And that lesson is very simply this
I hate everything you'll be
And what you are and what you've been
Is truly meaningless to me
So as you seek to make amends
The Earth's waiting for your knees
And all your apathetic friends
Just ignore your cries and pleas
And a wave of unforgiveness
Will cleanse our minds of lies
And it seems you'll never be redeemed
Inside of anybody's eyes
