Feeling Sentimental?

"Feeling Sentimental?"
2010

Do you see me sitting silent?
Or am I just beyond your view?
Do you see my hands extended?
Do you feel me reaching out for you?
'Cause I see you in your splendor
So alive in certain space
And when asked to speak of Heaven
I seem to just describe your face
But dear it doesn't matter
For there are things I don't deserve
And now my soul is numbing
Since there are things I won't preserve
I'll forget my every failure
And I'll forget my every win
So when I start feeling sentimental
I'll have nothing left within
Which will leave me sitting silent
And leave me just beyond your view
So you can't see my hands extended
Or feel me reaching out for you
Since you can see me in my suffering
And find it unattractive in the least
And you can hand me nice cliches
While hoping I'll make the madness cease
But dear it doesn't matter
For there are things I don't deserve
And now my soul is numbing
Since there are things I won't preserve
I'll forget my every failure
And I'll forget my every win
So when I start feeling sentimental
I'll have nothing left within
But if I did my best to speak up
And say the words you want to hear
Would you understand the statement
And feel the need to pull me near
Or would you look for finer print
Thinking there'll be a catch in time
And mock the sincerest set of spoken words
That have ever left my mind
'Cause dear it doesn't matter
Since you're what I don't deserve
And now my soul is numbing
Since I'm what you won't preserve
So I'll count your every romantic failure
As I list my every win
So when I start feeling sentimental
I'll have an excuse to think of you again...
