Poem For Jennifer

This was a poem that I was debating on posting. A friend of mine messaged me one day. She was wanting to write something special for her mom, but was unable to do so. So she reached out to me, and felt that I would be able to help. So after much pondering on the subject, I was finally able to write a piece that I felt was fitting of the subject. And here it is...

"Poem For Jennifer"
2010

There is no ceiling left to greet
For I've said goodbye to the ground
Gravity was just a curse
To which my soul's no longer bound
For you took your loving hands
And opened a window to the world
While helping this awkward pair of wings
To believe they could unfurl
Until they stretched and touched the sky
That patient blue that hung above
As you helped to show the way with words
And helped to light the path with love
Now I fly without an ounce of fear
Amongst the clouds that most adore
And I owe it all to you
Because you always encouraged me to soar
And if somehow I were to fall
Just to return to waiting Earth
You'd help me find the lesson in the pain
That would prove my journey's worth
Far more than words could say
Or more than pictures could ever show
'Cause for years you kept me free from harm
While still giving me the room to grow
So I hope that you'll accept
This humble gift of mine
As living proof of gratitude
For being the greatest gift from God, that words ever could define.
