Hollow Rings

"Hollow Rings"
2010

Weathered hands will tremble
As they reach inside the sand
While grains and flesh combine
I may never understand
How a place so desolate
Can hide a scene that's so serene
For it's here that peace of mind
Is often always seen
But this place rings hollow love
Without your presence here
Thinking our futures will never join
Is my present's greatest fear
But I'm sure these thoughts will pass
And blend into to the past
Of which I was once held captive
Until you freed me from it's grasp
But as weathered hands withdraw
The sands leave them with a gift
A lonely, tattered shell that shines
When the clouds begin to lift
And the hands shall take the shell
To be hurled across the sea
Hoping the ripples made will call to you
Wherever you may be
For this place rings hollow love
Without your presence here
Thinking our futures will never join
Is my present's greatest fear
But I'm sure these thoughts will pass
And blend into to the past
Of which I was once held captive
Until you freed me from it's grasp
As the shell begins to disappear
Beneath the surface blue
I begin to bear a disposition that
I'd describe as nervous true
For I don't believe the shell will lead
My missing love to me
But still I watch these hollow rings
And the hope is good enough for me
For this place rings hollow love
Without your presence here
Thinking our futures will never join
Is my present's greatest fear
But I'm sure these thoughts will pass
And blend into to the past
For if you returned upon this day
Maybe this serenity will last...
