"Raise The Sail"
2010
Now I board this boat in awe
As I view the walls I've built
Still held up by hopeless dreams
Joined together by the guilt
For letting this accident
That some have labeled life
To weigh my disposition down
And choke my hope with strife
But I'm still broadcasting live
From the length of arms you own
And still you won't come take a dive
Into what you call a sacred zone
So I'll raise the sail and wait
For you to change your mind
But with the water pouring in
I beg you not to take your time
And yes I chose to paint the walls
With shades of bitterness
I think the image of your face
Is a sight I'll never miss
Because I carry you with me
Each time the seas rebel
And the heart that's on my sleeve
Seems like it's beating well
So I'm still broadcasting live
From the length of arms you own
And still you won't come take a dive
Into what you call a sacred zone
So I'll raise the sail and wait
For you to change your mind
But with the water pouring in
I beg you not to take your time
I wonder if you'd penetrate the walls
I've taken years to build
To recessitate the self-esteem
This world has slowly killed
Or would you merely wish to see
The horrors on your own
As my wounds were sure displayed
During this time I've been alone
But I feel a change within the wind
As the degrees begin to rise
To make it seem a lot less cold
As the clouds retake the skies
From the grips of metaphoric hands
That were owned by darkened nights
Who chased away the darling stars
And then revoked their rights
Like the right to shine within your eyes
As you smile a smile at me
As if to say there'll be a day
When I'd wake beside you finally
But until then...
I'm still broadcasting live
From the length of arms you own
And still you won't come take a dive
Into what you call a sacred zone
So I'll raise the sail and wait
For you to change your mind
But with the water pouring in
I beg you not to take your time...
